TRENDS

1920

The development of a casual, modern women's wardrobe was a major trend of the 1920s - the formal style and the need to wear layers of clothing were discarded in favor of comfort and a more natural look. The classic feminine silhouette of the 1920s reflected the era's new sense of freedom. It was loose, straight and slender, with a dropped waist and a shorter hemline.

1930

The 1930s is the time of Hollywood's development, and the fashion of this period was mainly influenced by movies and movie stars. Women's style was no longer labeled "boyish" (as it was in the past decade) and was moving towards more feminine silhouettes.

1940

World War II brought with it the rationing of fabrics, and many of the typically feminine materials (satin, leather, wool) were needed for the production of military uniforms and parachutes for soldiers. Thus, everyday clothing was mainly made of cotton and nylon.

1950

It was during this period that well-known designers, including Christain Dior, Balenciaga and Coco Chanel, began their careers. The clothing presented elegance and glamor style; the dresses had a narrow waist and reached to the ankles

1960

The clothes were characterized by bright colors and cuts, women wore turtlenecks and shift dresses, knitted sweaters, suits with skirts and shirts. High-waisted pants with narrow legs, low-heeled shoes and bob haircuts also began to gain popularity.

1970

The 1970s are one of the craziest in the history of fashion. They are described as a mix of the style presented by popular fashion houses and the free hippie trend. Tunics and bell bottoms were staple trends, especially in the first half of the decade, as were platform shoes worn by both women and men.

1980

The real heyday in the early 1980s was the fitness trend that started in the 1970s. Leotards, tights and velor tracksuits, as well as leg warmers and headbands, were extremely popular. On the other hand, the 1980s also brought the New Romantic era, which was heavily influenced by the music scene.

1990

The beginning of the 90s brought with it a style strongly inspired by the grunge scene. Denim jackets, ripped jeans and Dr Martens boots were three of the major trends of the first half of the decade, led by fashion icons such as Courtney Love and Winona Ryder.

2000

In the 00s, no one was surprised by celebrities walking the red carpet with their bellies exposed, in jeans and wedge heels. The beginning of the new millennium brought an explosion of new colors, cuts and materials. It was as if all the styles from previous decades were just a warm-up for what we know today as Y2K fashion.

2010

The 2010s are a watershed period in the history of fashion - thanks to one application, the industry has undergone a great cultural change. Instagram was born, and with it came influencers, wellness culture, and the idea of "pics or it didn't happen." In the meantime, trends from the past have been revived, including inspired by the 90s dad sneakers or festival fashion.
